Helping to get through a CoronaVirus period…

Helping to get through a Virus period

I am going to give you more recommendations that can be incorporated in a typical day. Many won’t have the time, inclination or financial budget, but any practised will be beneficial:

Don’t spend too much of your valuable time by following the latest Corona virus News, the online stat counters recording the updated stats covering virus cases, deaths by country, and whether the virus is getting closer to where you are. Don’t worry about the present fluctuations in all the stock markets.

Spend time doing and fine tuning at least some of the following...

sleeping well
Washing hands regularly goes without saying!
If you want you can easily make your own sanitiser .. Mix Isopropyl Alcohol/surgical spirit x 2/3 with Aloe vera gel x 1/3 (emollient) with a few drops of essential oil to smell good. Just need some 50ml or 100ml plastic bottles and a small funnel.
Only buy your usual toilet roll quota.(If you get the virus only 1 in 10 will need excess toilet roll)
Stock up on your usual medications and some nutritional essentials to see you through.
Take Vitamin C, B12 cod liver oil
Drinking more water
Not self isolating – Go outside and get some fresh air. Whether it be your back yard, the local park, woods or maybe near the sea or a river walk if your lucky enough.
Make an effort to exercise and stimulate your mind. (Loads of ideas there depending on one’s character and interests)
Keep a reasonable distance from others but be courteous. Obviously don't shake hands or touch each other.

Smile and think positive

If you can afford it consider buying…

ACO2AMV1 Vax air purifier Which best buy (or equivalent) - Brilliant at removing pollutants to keep your airways and lungs clear down to 0.3 microns. The virus is 0.125 microns so it won’t filter those critters out,but will help you have clearer lungs in readiness!!

Buy a gelomuc respiratory device or equivalent

Buy a home oxygen concentrator.

If you are unlucky enough to contract the virus consider the following…

Keep your rest room humid
Open the window
Humidify the room with bowls of water and a cool mist humidifier.
Use a cup steam inhaler. Add essential oils, These are the best: Mix a drop of Ginger, Cinnamon, Tea tree, Lavender, Eucalyptus, Rosemary and Peppermint with half a cup of boiled water. This option is great if you can't get your hands on Paracetamol, Ibuprofen and aspirin.

More to come soon.. :0) Eyes, Nose, Mouth, Mind, Lungs protect.

New Search Engine Launches - Designed For Older Internet Users

A brand new search engine with a unique take on targeted search results has launched specifically for the older internet user. Designed with 50+ surfers in mind, AskMabel.co.uk is tailored to the search preferences of a mature audience.

Developed by the team behind online portal Mabels.org.uk, AskMabel uses an intuitive search agent to fine tune displayed results to more closely match topics and ages relevant to older internet fans. This level of demographic profiling helps to create a seamless user experience, providing a quicker and easier route to finding relevant information online.

Jon Wickham, Owner and founder of Mabels said, "Over 50s are rapidly becoming prolific internet users with traditional desktop and mobile phone access on the increase. It's very important that information about issues affecting the older generation are easily and broadly accessible. There are so many fantastic web sites and information out there but we found that finding them quickly without wasting valuable time having to search all over the place wasn't as easy as you'd think. AskMabel has been designed in conjunction with Mabels.org.uk and uses all of our expertise gathered from years of working with internet users over 50 to help them find suitable answers to their search queries as quickly as possible."

Ask Mabel combines the innovative ability to match and fine tune the results of searches directly to the topic and age of the older internet user with an intuitive, super-clean interface. An information-rich design adds to the user experience, keeping search screens and results pages on topic for clearer, more concise searching, including large font and useful buttons like 'clear search term'.

When entering a search term in to the search box, the user can choose to Ask Mabel to find internet pages related to specific categories such as health, finance, retirement, mobility or homecare or can opt for a Google-powered search. The results page shows the pre-selected web pages determined to be most applicable to the older user.

Latest topical news relevant to the age group is sourced manually and automatically, with headlines shown on the left of all results for convenience. News items are also sourced from the Mabels.org.uk portal, making them highly relevant to the over 50s.

The launch of AskMabel has been driven in part by the meteoric rise in so called 'silver surfers' in the UK over the last 24 months. Research by Nielsen suggests that more than 12 million people over 50 use the Internet regularly. Their studies found that the older generation have embraced the internet, using it to carry out everyday tasks such as shopping or booking a holiday. Driven by this proliferation, niche websites have sprung up from providers such as Saga, women's clothing retailers and a number of cruise lines, targeting the older, tech-savvy internet user. AskMabel helps users to correlate all of this data and access only the most relevant of web pages, making it easy to navigate the internet and find information of interest.

Jon Wickham added, "Filtering the users search results to the topic of the search as well as the age group of the user is the first steps to a much improved internet browsing experience and believes is the way forward in attracting the quality and value content we all strive for."

In the queue at Tesco, the cashier told an older woman that she should bring
her own grocery bags because plastic bags weren't very good for the environment.

The woman apologised to her and explained, "We didn't have the "green thing"
back in my day."

The cashier responded, "That's the problem today, your generation never
cared enough to save our environment."

She was right -- our generation didn't have the "green thing" in its
day......or....did we?

Back then, we returned milk bottles, lemonade bottles and beer bottles to
where we'd bought them. They sent them back to the plant to be washed and
sterilized and refilled, so it could use the same bottles over and over. So
they really were recycled. But we didn't have the "green thing" back in our
day.

We walked up stairs, because we didn't have an escalator in every store and
office building. We walked to the shops and didn't climb into a 3litre petrol
guzzling machine every time we had to go 200 yards or drop the kids off to
school. But she was right. We didn't have the "green thing" in our day.

Back then, we washed the baby's nappies because we didn't have the
throw-away kind. We dried clothes on a line, not in an energy gobbling
machine burning up 220 volts -- wind and solar power really did dry the
clothes. Kids got hand-me-down clothes from their brothers or sisters, not
always brand-new clothing. But that old lady was right; we didn't have the
"green thing" back in our day.

Back then, we had one TV, or radio, in the house -- not a TV in every room.
And the TV had a small screen the size of a handkerchief (remember them?),
not a screen the size of Wales . In the kitchen, we blended and stirred by
hand because we didn't have electric machines to do everything for us. When
we packaged a fragile item to send in the mail, we used a wadded up old
newspaper to cushion it, not Styrofoam or plastic bubble wrap. Back then, we
didn't fire up an engine and burn petrol just to cut the lawn. We used a
push mower that ran on human power. We exercised by working so we didn't
need to go to a health club to run on treadmills that operate on
electricity. But she's right; we didn't have the "green thing" back then.

We drank from a fountain or plain tap when we were thirsty instead of using
a cup or a plastic bottle every time we had a drink of water. We refilled
writing pens with ink instead of buying a new pen, and we replaced the razor
blades in a razor instead of throwing away the whole razor just because the
blade got dull. But we didn't have the "green thing" back then.

Back then, people took the tram or a bus and kids rode their bikes to school
or walked instead of turning their mothers (or fathers) into a 24-hour taxi service.

We had one electrical outlet in a room, not an entire bank of sockets to power
a dozen appliances. And we didn't need a computerised gadget to receive a
signal beamed from satellites 2,000 miles out in space in order to find the
nearest McDonalds.

But isn't it sad the current generation laments how wasteful we old folks
were just because we didn't have the "green thing" back then?

Please forward this on to another selfish old git who possibly needs a
lesson in conservation from a smartass young person who thinks they know it all.
